Welcome to the Walk for Wishes - Team Addy Roar
April 8th in Alexandria, VA at 11:00 am at Fort Ward Park
Five years ago, Addy was diagnosed with life threatening Kidney cancer. She was granted an amazing wish by Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, forever changing her view of her illness. Her love for music solidified during that wish and inspired her recovery through her relapse this past year.
Since Addy's initial diagnosis, our amazing community has helped grant a wish each year to a child with a life-threatening illness. Please join our walk team and help fundraise to grant the wish of another local child. Granting wishes to kids with life-threatening medical conditions gives them more than an amazing experience. A wish come true has the power to make kids feel stronger, more courageous, and more determined to overcome their illnesses.
You can help grant a wish by:

Tie Dye with us!
Show your team spirit, help support Make-A-Wish and party at the same time! A week before the walk, we will host a tie-dye party after school to decorate our team t-shirts! It is a fun way to raise a little bit of extra money as the ENTIRE purchase price of the shirt goes to our team fundraising! The t-shirts purchased through the team are different from the official Walk-for-Wishes shirts granted during registration. We will pick up from Campagna!!
Over the past four years, the contributions to our team helped grant the following wishes:
Marlie
Henry
18 year-old Henry from Alexandria, VA, loves ice hockey. He began playing when he was in kindergarten and even played defense for his high school team despite his on-going battle with cystic fibrosis. When Henry found out he would be receiving a wish he knew immediately his wish would be to go to the Stanley Cup Championship!
Marlie, age 5, from Centreville, VA, wished to go to Hawaii to go surfing and to experience volcanoes, luaus and other activities. She loved the idea of surfing after watching Scooby Doo and reading several books about characters surfing. Marlie and her family enjoyed the trip of a lifetime to this tropical paradise, and made memories they’ll never forget.
Mason
Mason, age 9, from Eldersburg, MD, wished to have a shark experience. (photo attached)
